Nookfor Stillroom Tattoo

Nobody answers DMs with a needle in their hand.

Nook is a booking system for work that is never the same twice. Sara built it in Lovable in ten days for the Lovable Challenge, and set it up for Stillroom, a tattoo studio she invented for the brief.

ScopeConcept, product design and the whole build in Lovable. Demo video and voice over.

01 / The brief

Build it for a small business.

The Lovable Challenge on Contra asked for something a real small business would actually use, built in Lovable. The entry had a checklist, and every line of it shaped Nook.

  1. A believable business, with a name, a place and real quirks

    Stillroom Tattoo, Östergatan 14, Malmö
  2. Built in Lovable, project public

    215 commits, 22 September to 1 October
  3. One line on the problem it solves

Nobody answers DMs with a needle in their hand
  4. A demo under three minutes

2:57, with Sara's own voice over
  5. A post tagging @Lovable

Why a tattoo studio

A haircut has a menu and a free slot. A tattoo has neither. The price moves with size, style, placement and old ink, the time moves with it, and not every artist can take every job. That made it the hardest booking Sara could think of, so it became the test.

The last client has gone, the gloves come off and the phone is full. Every message is the same question in a different shape, and every one hides a rule of the trade.

After

One link instead of ten DMs.

Nook asks what the artist would ask, prices the piece while you answer, matches the right artist and only offers times that are really free. A booking only counts once the deposit is paid.

03 / Try it

Every answer moves the estimate.

These are Stillroom's real questions and the same pricing rules the live app runs. Try a cover up, or the hand.

NookStep 2 of 5: Details

Tell us about your piece

01 Roughly how big is the piece?
02 What style are you after?
03 Where on the body?
04 Is this covering or reworking existing ink?

Custom work always lands with Ines before it is confirmed. Flash pieces go straight to the deposit.

04 / Rather chat?

Nook's little helper.

Some people would rather talk than fill in a form. The helper asks the same questions in a conversation, answers the worries everyone has, like "will it hurt?", and fills in the booking along the way.

It drafts. It never books by itself. The customer still picks the time and confirms.

05 / The owner side

One tap for Ines.

Ines lives in Google Calendar, so Nook checks it before offering a single time. Custom requests reach her already priced and matched. She taps Approve, and the rest happens without her.

Only times that are really free

Each artist's days and hours, the sittings already booked and Ines's Google Calendar. A time survives only if all three say yes.

06 / No code

Ines never touches code.

Prices, questions, artists, hours and policies are all set from one panel. Every answer shows a "Customer sees" preview, and an old price list comes in from a spreadsheet, a PDF or a Google Sheet.

Nothing in Nook is about tattoos. The same engine reads a groomer's coat, a photographer's location or a contractor's stairs.

07 / Two identities

Stillroom is the studio. Nook is the system.

Two looks on purpose. Stillroom is ink and cinnabar, with its own flash art, like walking into a real studio. Nook is graphite and peach, so it can belong to any business.

Sara planned the whole flow with Claude first: the questions, what each answer changes, who can take what. Then she built it in Lovable and synced it with GitHub, so she could keep going in both places.

What went to the judges.

A demo under three minutes, cut by Sara with her own voice over, the one line problem and the post.

The one line problemStillroom Tattoo: nobody can answer DMs with a needle in their hand, so Nook turns "how much, and when are you free?" into a priced, matched, deposit backed booking that Ines approves with one tap.

Before and after

Ten DMs and an empty chair. Then one link, a real price, a paid deposit.

Next on Nook's list: reminders and rescheduling by SMS, because the follow through is where owners lose their evenings.
